Augusta – Members of the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club attended our annual district meeting hosted at the beautiful and historic Viles House by the Kennebec Valley Garden Club. Our club’s attendees were: Marion Hutchinson, Libby Kaut, Regina Longyear, Rachel McClellan, and Roxanne Worster.
Representatives from the constituent clubs presented key projects they completed, and then we toured the mansion with a docent. Our club presented our the Teague Memorial project, the Central Maine club described their installation of a native garden at the Redington Museum in Waterville, and the Bloomfield club explained how they applied for and received a Plant America Grant which was matched by their park commissioners to help beautify Coburn Park in Skowhegan.
District officers were installed, including our own Libby Kaut as the Assistant Director. GCFM president Harriett Robinson delivered her report on the progress of her initiatives now at the end of her two-year term.
After that, we discussed plans and ideas for the GCFM Fall Conference, as it is the Kennebec District’s turn to host that event, which is scheduled for 24 Oct 2023 at 12:00 am – 11:59 pm in Agusta.
At the conclusion of all district business raffle winners were announced and we adjourned.
