The meeting, held at the home of Terri Neil, was called to order by president Libby Kaut. Guests were welcomed. The treasurer’s report was read and accepted. Civic beautification update was given.
Yearbook was discussed. We still need hostesses for several meetings. Please contact Marion if you can help, and we need a speaker for our October meeting.
Libby introduced Chelsea Roy, a UMF student and intern for the Maine DEP. Chelsea is working on a project for the town of Farmington, to create a community-wide initiative for composting. She is also working with the public works department on an edible landscape project. We agree to present her projects as the theme for our display at the Farmington fair. She plans to plant low maintenance bushes in town parks, including Hippach field, Bjorn park, and Philbrick park, and tomato plants at Meetinghouse park. A suggestion was made to have posters in the fair display showing her projects and community involvement in them. Sarah, Libby, and Debbie will work with Chelsea.
We also discussed an activity for children at the fair, painting kindness rocks.
Scholarship recipients this year were Daphne Giampetro and Ella Stone.
